The North Dakota State College of Science Alumni Foundation recently received a $25,000 lead gift from Bell State Bank & Trust of Fargo, N.D., to establish the NDSCS Leadership Fund.

The NDSCS Leadership Fund has been created to help start and sustain an NDSCS Leadership program which will provide students with an opportunity to join the NDSCS Ambassadors - an on-campus student organization that will focus on cultivating and growing the proper leadership skills needed in order to become a successful leader in one of today's growing companies.

"NDSCS business and industry partners have consistently asked us to help provide them with graduates who not only have the necessary technical skills, but also the leadership skills that are so highly valued in graduates today," said Brad Barth, Executive Director of the NDSCS Alumni Foundation. "The NDSCS Alumni Foundation will use Bell State Bank & Trust's initial gift, along with an additional $12,500 from North Dakota State Challenge Grant matching funds, as a starting point to build this Endowment."

The NDSCS Ambassador program will recruit the best and brightest NDSCS students to serve as ambassadors for the College while featuring leadership training with designated outcomes. Key business and industry leaders will also play a role by attending events and presenting on topics that will help students succeed in their transition from student leaders to business and industry leaders within the state of North Dakota and the region.

"Bell State Bank & Trust is excited to partner with NDSCS in developing the leaders of tomorrow," said Rick Steckler, President of the Wahpeton/Breckenridge Bell State Bank & Trust locations. "NDSCS has a proven track record of graduating students with the technical skills that make an immediate impact in many industries not only across the state, but around the world. If we can help enhance the leadership skills of these students, it should give them another advantage as they move into the business world."
