Posted on 6/2/2014

Kyle De Young, assistant professor of psychology at the University of North Dakota, has been elected to the board of directors of the Academy for Eating Disorders (AED) as its director for communication.

AED is an international organization that has a mission of promoting prevention, treatment, research and education when it comes to eating disorders.

About De Young:

De Young graduated with his doctorate degree in clinical psychology from the University at Albany, State University of New York in 2011.

De Young's research is focused on the course and outcome of eating disorders and obesity. He has taken a unique approach to his research by studying the symptom changes on disordered eating behaviors and exercise, as well as analyzing how the symptoms change in frequency over time.

His clinical interests are in eating disorders and weight management and more broadly in behavioral medicine and the use of behavioral and cognitive-behavioral treatments for these problems.

De Young has been published numerous times in distinguished academic journals, such as the "Journal of Psychiatric Research", "Journal of Abnormal Psychology", and the "International Journal of Eating Disorders", to name a few.
