Dickinson State University and the Everett C. Albers Humanities Institute board members will host the Everett C. Albers 2012 Humanities Festival: "World Views from DSU," Thursday, April 19 - Friday, April 20. All events will take place in Beck Auditorium, Klinefelter Hall.

The festival is themed toward positive aspects of international students and contacts at the university and the importance of diversity and multiculturalism on campus. "World Views from DSU," will consist of faculty and student panels discussing the importance of ongoing events in Russia and the Arab world, and two faculty presentations on their experiences as scholar-teachers outside of the United States.

Speakers will include: Dr. Steven Doherty, DSU associate professor of political science; Dr. Gary Cummisk, DSU associate professor of geography; Dr. David Solheim, DSU professor of English; Dr. Richard Brauhn, DSU interim vice president of academic affairs, and several international students.

Everett C. Albers graduated from Dickinson State University in 1966 and taught English at Dickinson State College from 1969-1973. His commitment to the humanities and public education in North Dakota eventually led him to be the inaugural director of the North Dakota Committee for the Humanities and Public Issues. Albers served from 1973 until his death in 2003. Following his death, DSU established the Albers Humanities Institute, which has been dedicated to the memory and professional values of Albers.

Each program is approximately one hour in length, with evening programs followed by refreshments. Events are free and open to the public.
