Posted on 4/20/2012

Dickinson State University students Ravi Bhatarai, Aaron Kelly and Gaoyang Bridget Fan received honorable mention at the 2012 COMAP, the Consortium for Mathematics and its Applications competition.

COMAP is an award-winning non-profit organization whose mission is to improve mathematics education for students of all ages. Since 1980, COMAP has worked with teachers, students and business people to create learning environments where mathematics is used to investigate and model real issues in our world.

"It was great to take part in such a diverse competition which allowed us to participate with students from many different countries," said DSU student Ravi Bhatarai.

This year, 3,697 teams participated in the contest. Of them, 341 were teams from the United States. Other teams competing represented Canada, China, Finland, Germany, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Mexico, Malaysia, Palestine, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Turkey and the United Kingdom.
