Hallie Pritchett is NDSU's new associate dean of libraries for research and learning.

Before joining NDSU, she spent 11 years at the University of Georgia Libraries, most recently working as head of the Map and Government Information Library which opened in 2012. Pritchett helped design the library, one of the largest libraries dedicated to maps and government information in the country, by combining the University of Georgia's former map library and its extensive federal, state, and international government documents collections.

After the Map and Government Information Library opened, she worked with the UGA Libraries' administration and its systems department to construct a Geographic Information Systems lab, which opened in early 2015, and establish GIS services for the libraries.

At NDSU, Pritchett will lead the libraries' research, learning and scholarly communication services.

"Aside from being excited about living and working in the Upper Midwest again, what I'm most looking forward to is being able to work directly with so many different people and departments within the libraries and at NDSU itself," she said. "With all of the interesting projects, initiatives and ideas here, there are so many opportunities and possibilities."

Pritchett is chair of the American Library Association's Government Documents Round Table. She is a past chair of the American Library Association's Map and Geospatial Information Round Table and a past chair of the Depository Library Council, which advises the director of the Government Publishing Office and the superintendent of documents on matters related to the Federal Depository Library Program.

Pritchett earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Minnesota, her Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois, her Master of Internet Technology from the University of Georgia's Terry College of Business and her post-baccalaureate certificate in Geographic Information Systems from the University of West Georgia.

As a student-focused, land-grant, research university, we serve our citizens.
