High-school students to get first-hand experience in several career options
The North Dakota State College of Science is traveling to Oakes High School on Tuesday, February 8 to present Steer Your Career, a hands-on opportunity for students and parents to get acquainted with different career areas. Steer Your Career works as a collaborative effort between secondary high school and post secondary education to address the need for skilled workers in careers that are high-paying and in high-demand. This career exploration event gives students a first-hand look at what type of education and training are needed for a specific profession.
The event will begin with hands on demonstrations and activities for Oakes high school students with an evening meal provided to students and parents to follow. The meal will be served on a first come, first serve basis beginning with 5 p.m. registration. After, there will be two breakout interactive career sessions conducted by various NDSCS academic departments. Area businesses attending will be available to discuss employment trends and industry needs. High school seniors are eligible to sign up for a wide-variety of door prizes, including a $500 NDSCS tuition scholarship.
