DSU alumni to compete in 2012 London Summer Olympic Games Posted on 6/27/2012
Dickinson State University alumnus and 15-time NAIA All-American Ramon Miller will represent the Bahamas in both the 200-meter and 400-meter dash at the 2012 London Summer Olympic games. In 2008, Miller won a silver medal in his Olympic debut at the Beijing Summer Olympic games as a member of the Bahamian 4x400 meter relay team.
Joining Miller at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games will be former DSU track and field standouts Derrick Atkins and Trevor Barry. Atkins and Barry both placed first overall in their events during the Bahamian Olympic trials. Atkins will compete in the 100-meter dash and Barry in the high jump.
In addition, one current student and five former Blue Hawks from the countries of the Bahamas, Canada, Nigeria and Panama qualified to participate in their homeland Olympic trials, but did not advance.
To commemorate the accomplishments of our current and former DSU athletes, TEAM DSU apparel will be available for purchase at the Arts Roundup on Saturday, June 30 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in King Pavilion on the DSU campus. Apparel also may be purchased starting July 2 at the University Store, located in the Student Center on the DSU campus.
