This semester's lectures focus on issues in North Dakota's oil patch

Three scholars have been invited by University of North Dakota's International Studies program to discuss international, national and internal interactions in North Dakota's oil patch during the 2014 spring semester.

All three lectures will be held downtown at 7 p.m., as part of the Backstage Project, in the Empire Arts Center. Receptions will take place at 6:30 p.m. before each event.

The theme is "North Dakota's Internal Boarders."

The first lecture, by William Caraher, associate professor of history, and Bret Weber, assistant professor of social work, will be Feb. 12. The lecture is titled "A Global and Historical View on the North Dakota Man Camps."

The series is sponsored by the UND College of Arts and Sciences and UND's Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures, UND Department of History, and the UND Department of Political Science and Public Administration.
