MINOT, N.D. - Three finalists for the position of president at Minot State University have been selected to move forward. The presidential search committee met in Minot this week for extensive candidate interviews. The four candidates also had the opportunity to meet with community members, students, faculty, and staff to discuss their expectations and get a feel for the campus and the area.
"We had an impressive group of candidates for these interviews," said Dr. Terry Hjelmstad, vice chair of the State Board of Higher Education and chair of the committee. "After careful deliberation, we feel we have a wonderful slate of candidates to send forward to the next step in the process."
The three finalists are:
Lorrie Clemo, Ph.D., Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs at State University of New York at Oswego, Oswego, N.Y.
Steven W. Shirley, Ph.D., President of Valley City State University, Valley City, N.D.
Martin Slann, Ph.D., Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at The University of Texas at Tyler, Tyler, Texas
The finalists were interviewed by the North Dakota University System Interim Chancellor Larry C. Skogen via interactive video this week as well. At its February 27 meeting in Minot, the State Board of Higher Education will interview the three finalists and will make its decision on the successful candidate.
