NDSU students present at national research conference

Posted on 4/11/2018

Two NDSU undergraduate students and a recent graduate presented research at the National Conferences on Undergraduate Research at the University of Central Oklahoma April 4-7.

From the NDSU Department of Anthropology and Sociology, alumna Alexandra Howatt, BA '17, anthropology, and Isabel Krum, a senior majoring in anthropology, presented "Healthy Women are Beautiful Women: Health and Beauty Standards at the Crystal Palace." Their adviser is Kristen Fellows, assistant professor of sociology and anthropology.

Electrical and computer engineering senior Nathan Johnson presented "Manipulation of Biological Matter Using Electrodeless Dielectrophoresis." His adviser is Dharmakeerthi Nawarathna, assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering.

Established in 1987, the annual conference is dedicated to promoting undergraduate research, scholarship and creative activity in all fields of study. More than 4,000 students from across the U.S. presented their research through posters, oral presentations, visual arts and performances this year.
The NDSU students were poster and oral presentation awardees from the fourth annual NDSU EXPLORE event held on Nov. 1, 2017. The conference trip was sponsored by the NDSU Research and Creative Activity Office.

As a student-focused, land-grant, research university, we serve our citizens.
