Consortium for Substance Abuse Prevention

The North Dakota Higher Education Consortium for Substance Abuse Prevention (NDHECSAP) provides guidance and leadership on substance abuse prevention issues throughout the North Dakota University System. NDHECSAP helps the State Board of Higher Education, University System campuses and the University System office identify substance abuse prevention needs and challenges and develops strategies for addressing those issues. NDHECSAP’s Director, Katie Fitzsimmons, Director of Student Affairs, is responsible for the biannual coordination of the ND CORE Alcohol and Other Drug survey, the submission and review of campus Biennial Review of all substance abuse programs, and annual submission and review of campus EDGAR 86 Compliance Reports. NDHECSAP has strong partnerships and collaborative ties with state and local agencies.

Consortium members include Katie Fitzsimmons, one member from the North Dakota Student Association, one representative from each NDUS campus, as well as the University of Mary, Jamestown University, and the Department of Human Services. NDHECSAP meets on the first Thursday of each month via audio conference, and face-to-face twice annually.
