25 Feb NDSU Career Outcomes Report to be released
The NDSU Career Center, in collaboration with the Office of Institutional Research and Analysis,is set to release the 2018 Career Outcomes Report during a presentation scheduled for Wednesday, March 6, at 2 p.m. in the Memorial Union Ballroom.
The report includes information from the First Destination Survey published annually by NDSU. The survey captures important data regarding how new college graduates fare in their careers within six months of graduation.
“This report contains information arranged by major on data such as employment rates, continuing education enrollment rates and starting salaries,” explained Smita Garg, Career Center assistant director for employer engagement. “Recent graduates are the most current ‘data points’ employers use to evaluate a university and the educational value it provides. Survey feedback can lead to curricula enhancement that can boost NDSU’s education quality and its reputation in the marketplace. Post-graduation data also can elevate NDSU’s reputation as a great university, providing information on ‘return on investment’ in terms of resources – monetary, time and effort – spent by college students and their families.”
Emily Berg, director of the Office of Institutional Research and Analysis, said, “The Career Outcomes Report helps NDSU stakeholders understand that NDSU graduates begin quickly contributing to the regional and national workforce, employing the skills and knowledge they have gained through their academic and co-curricular programs.”
According to Garg, NDSU has continually ranked above the national average in collecting this type of information. “We strongly believe that the outcomes of recent graduates can continue to enhance greater outcomes for current and future NDSU students,” she said.
The NDSU Career Center, located in Ceres Hall, is the institution’s primary, centralized career resource center. It instructs students and alumni in career-related essentials and partners with faculty, staff, academic departments and employers to provide relevant and appropriate employment information.
