WSC Fall Schedule Upcoming

WILLISTON, N.D. – Spring break is just around the corner which means the Fall 2019 course schedule for Williston State College will soon be available.

WSC will release the Fall 2019 schedule on Monday, March 4 and it will be available online at willistonstate.edu/schedules. The Summer 2019 schedule is currently viewable.

Current students are encouraged to meet with their advisors to determine appropriate classes.

“With the continuation of the Williams County, Regional, and AAA scholarships students will want to enroll in courses early,” explained Kim Wray, Vice President for Academic Affairs at WSC. “First term advising will also be offered at several regional high schools throughout the spring semester.”

Five registration days are scheduled to assist future students after they make their initial application for admission to WSC. Students can visit campus, meet with an academic advisor, select and enroll in fall classes, obtain their student ID, receive financial aid assistance, and apply for and tour campus housing.

The following registration days are scheduled before the Fall 2019 semester begins:

Tuesday, May 28
Thursday, June 13 & June 27
Thursday, July 11 & July 25

Students can pre-register at www.willistonstate.edu/Future-Students/Registration.

A new program and significant program changes to existing programs will come into effect for the Fall 2019 semester.

“WSC will now officially offer an AAS in Sports and Recreation Management,” said Wray. “Curriculum approval from the State level was received and this program will capitalize on our relationship with the Williston Parks and Recreation District.”

“The WSC Petroleum program will be rebranded as the Petroleum Technology and Automation program as it is updated to fit the growing automation needs of the workforce,” continued Wray. “Along a similar vein, WSC will offer an AAS in Agriculture that, through partnership with Dakota College at Bottineau and Lake Region State College, allows students to choose a path in Ranch, Equine, Farm, or Agribusiness Management.”

The 2019-2020 housing application is open to new and returning students. A total of 25 applications have been received since the application’s release on February 4.

Interested students are encouraged to apply soon to guarantee placement. Housing questions can be directed to 701.774.4585 or wsc.housing@willistonstate.edu.

In addition to classes and housing, the Fall 2019 Week of Welcome (WOW) is taking shape.

Karissa Kjos, WSC’s Student Life Coordinator, has been busy finalizing details for the 4th WOW week scheduled for Sunday, August 25 through Friday, August 30.

The week-long celebration is intended to guide new Tetons through orientation programs and daily social events to encourage students to meet their fellow Tetons.

“Teton WOW is my favorite week of the year!” explained Kjos. “New students get to experience all WSC has to offer though the week of events and I always love greeting returning students who have grown so much since they were new this same time the year before.”

This fall’s WOW week will include new events like Grocery + Teton Swag Bingo, Bonfire & S’mores, Stuff an Emoji Slipper or WSC Pillow, and Frontier Takeover. Returning events brought back by popular demand include the Welcome BBQ, Fondue & Friends, Outdoor Movie, and the Pool Party.

In addition, WSC will again sponsor the last Summer Nights on Main for the 2019 summer season on Thursday, August 29.

“We are excited to see the town decked out in Teton Gear again!” exclaimed Kjos.
