19 Apr UND Band and Vivo Chamber Choir will present Pops Concert April 23
The UND University Band, with special guests, the Vivo Chamber Choir, will present “Jazz Lives! – A Pops Concert” on Tuesday, April 23, at 8 p.m. in the Memorial Union Ballroom on the UND campus.
Tickets, available at the door, are $7 for adults, $3 for students and senior citizens, or $14 per family. Military are admitted free with ID.
The concert will feature the ensembles, both individually and together, performing jazz music from the past 100 years. Included are such classic tunes as Tiger Rag, Bill Bailey, Embraceable You, The Girl from Ipanema, How High the Moon and Birdland, as well as tributes to the music of Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, and Duke Ellington. The University Band will be led by Dr. James Popejoy and undergraduate conductor Paul Murray. Vivo is directed by Melanie Popejoy and undergraduate conductor Melody Sebald. Guest artists for the evening include Michael Blake, drums; Robert Brooks, trumpet; and Bob Cary, bass.
