NDSU music students excel at competitions

 

Students from the NDSU Challey School of Music recently excelled during the National Association of Teachers of Singing, known as NATS, competition for both the South Dakota and North Dakota chapters.

In South Dakota, NDSU singers won five awards in their division, including two first places, one second and one third, as well as one honorable mention.

At the North Dakota competition held April 6 at Jamestown University, two students placed first, two placed second and one student placed third in their division.

NDSU faculty members Mariane Lemieux-Wottrich and Robert Jones were recognized as teachers of the student award winners.

South Dakota:

Micah Nicolai, first place

Lauren Craig, first place

Bailey Roth, third place

Anthony Peralta, honorable mention

 

North Dakota:

Nick Hovey, second place

Joel Peterson, third place

Margaret Brink, second place

Elijah O’Sullivan, first place

Elyssa Bickford (musical theater), first place

 

NDSU graduate collaborative pianists Caleb Lawson, Elisama Gonçalves, Hong Liang Ng and Xiang Wei provided accompanying performances.
