NDSU student-athletes named to academic golf teams

NDSU’s men’s and women’s golf teams each had a selection to the Summit League Academic All-League Teams announced May 22.

For the second-straight year, Andrew Israelson was named to the team. Taylor McCorkle from the women’s team earned a spot in her first year of eligibility for the honor. The award recognizes student-athletes who excelled both on the course and in the classroom.

Israelson was one of three repeat selections to the five-member men’s team. Israelson is a finance major with a 3.72 GPA. Earlier this spring, he was named to the All-Summit League First Team and earned a spot on the Summit League All-Championship team.

A marketing major with a 3.60 GPA, McCorkle was one of five players selected to the women’s team. Earlier this spring, she was named to the All-Summit League Second Team.

Student-athletes are nominated by their respective sports information directors and then voted on by a panel composed of faculty athletics representatives from each university and the sports information directors. To qualify, student-athlete must have at least a 3.3 cumulative career grade-point average, have completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and have participated in 50 percent of their team’s completed competitions.
