10 Jun NDSU named Military Spouse Friendly School
North Dakota State University has proven its commitment to creating sustainable and meaningful benefit for military spouses. Military Friendlyhas included NDSU in its recently-released 2019-2020 Military Spouse Friendly Schoolslist.
The list is a reliable resource for military spouses, and has set a standard for higher education institutions to provide quality post-secondary education experiences for spouses of service members.
“Our primary goal at NDSU is to be student focused in all things that we do and to all student populations, including the military spouse community,” said Scott Fuller, NDSU military and veterans service representative. “From helping these individuals secure the appropriate funding through the Department of Veterans Affairs to providing flexibility of evening, weekend and online courses, our institution does everything we can to foster a positive learning environment.”
The Military Spouse Friendly Schools list is created through data sources from federal agencies and proprietary survey information from participating organizations. The comprehensive guide is for military spouses looking to further their education. This year, 196 out of 8,800 schools surveyed earned the prestigious designation.
“The Military Spouse Friendly Schools designation helps military spouses select schools that will support them in their education journey by meeting their unique needs as a part of a military family,” said Brian Hucik, Military Friendly’s national program manager. “Schools that are selected for the list are at the forefront of supporting the goals of military spouses.”
The list’s methodology, criteria and weightings were established by VIQTORYwith input from the Military Friendly Advisory Council comprised of leaders in higher education and the military recruitment community. Final ratings were determined by combining the institution’s survey scores with the assessment of the institution’s ability to meet thresholds for student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, degree advancement and loan default rates for all students and, specifically, student veterans.
