TrainND Northwest Re-Launches Well Control Program

WILLISTON, N.D. – TrainND Northwest is pleased to announce the re-launch of its well control training program this August after a 12-month hiatus for program changes.

TrainND Northwest will offer the following three International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) courses and associated training:

  • IADC WellSharp Drilling Operations Supervisor with optional IADC WellSharp Drilling Operations Supplement Course for Workover | August 6-10
  • IADC WellSharp Oil & Gas Operator Representative | August 12-16

Upon completion of each course, students will receive certification from IADC.

“Well control training is a vital component of the oil and gas drilling industry,” explained Martin Walters, an IADC instructor of well control.  “It is much more than just being compliant by passing a standardized test. It is important that personnel understand and retain the information and principles so that they are able to work quickly and decisively under stress.”

The well control training program will be offered every other month moving forward.

For curriculum and delivery, TrainND Northwest has partnered with Petroleum College International to ensure the highest quality hands-on training in the Williston area for well control.

“Well control is integral to the drilling process,” stated IADC Accreditation Operations Vice President, Mark Denkowski. “Maintaining control of the well, throughout the lifecycle of a well, is crucial to ensuring safe, efficient, and environmentally sound operations. IADC’s WellSharp training program addresses this critical component to the drilling process through detailed, technical coursework developed by industry veterans. WellSharp courses were designed to ensure that everyone who has well control responsibilities, regardless of position, has role-specific well control training.”

TrainND Northwest offers a realistic training experience using a full-size drilling, production & workover simulator with advanced 3-dimensional graphics.

Costs for the courses are:

  • IADC WellSharp Drilling Operations Supervisor Course, 4-day training | $1,350
  • IADC WellSharp Drilling Operations Supplement Course for Workover, 1-day training | $300
  • IADC WellSharp Oil & Gas Operator Representative, 5-day training | $1,495

“We are excited to offer this important program to ensure that our workforce goes to work confident and returns home safe when their shift is over,” explained Bonnie Finch, Operations Manager at TrainND Northwest.

Interested individuals can now register for this program. Registration remains open until the Friday before the first day of class or until filled.

There are limited seats available due to the practical nature of the training and allowing each student sufficient time on the training simulators.
