17 Jul Johnson Named Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs
The North Dakota University System has named Lisa Johnson as vice chancellor for academic and student affairs.
Johnson has formally taken on responsibilities as the system’s top academic officer as of June 26, 2019. She has been serving in the role in an interim capacity for the previous year. Prior to her interim appointment to the position, Johnson served as the director of academic affairs, which included overseeing policies relating to transfer students, distance education and veterans.
“I genuinely enjoy working with the faculty, staff, students and administrators from campuses at every level within our system for the last 25 years. They are a trusted network of resources to me,” Johnson said. “I anticipate that among several system priorities of the upcoming year, one will be supporting statewide efforts to attract, educate and retain a skilled workforce in North Dakota.”
Chancellor Mark Hagerott said Johnson continues to be an exemplary fit for the role.
“It’s unlikely that there’s anyone who knows our university system better than Ms. Johnson,” Hagerott said. “As a product of our university system, she knows the ins and outs of everything related to academic and student affairs, from the operational day-to-day workings of the campuses to the strategic approaches needed for systemwide policy.”
