NDSU Faculty Conference set for Aug. 23

NDSU’s annual Faculty Conference, a showcase of campus resources and faculty expertise, is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 23, starting at 8:30 a.m. in the Memorial Union Great Plains room. Faculty and staff will discuss campus technologies and provide information regarding research, instruction, assessment, advising and student life.

“The Faculty Conference marks the beginning of the academic year. It provides an opportunity for faculty and academic staff to network, engage and learn with and from their colleagues,” said Canan Bilen-Green, vice provost for faculty affairs and equity

Participants attend sessions on such topics as methods for reaching a variety of learners, academic leadership, strategies for navigating conflict and creating work-life balance.

The opening session will feature a presentation “Classroom Practices to Increase Success and Retention of All Students” by biological science faculty members Angela Hodgson and Jenni Momsen.

At 11:30 a.m., the luncheon session will include “Mission, Service, Engagement Reflecting on Our Work in Public Higher Education,” a talk by Holly Hassel, professor of English.

A variety of concurrent sessions, many intended for new faculty, also are planned.

Attendees are asked to register online.

Faculty who are interested in presenting at a Faculty Luncheon during this academic year or at next year’s Faculty Conference are asked to contact Bilen-Green at canan.bilen.green@ndsu.edu or 231-7040.
