08 Oct Northern Plains Ethics Institute to host public forum on Persian Gulf issues
The Northern Plains Ethics Institute at NDSU is set to hold a public forum titled “Iran, the Arabs and Crises in the Gulf: Past as Present – Present as Future.” Roby C. Barrett will provide a comprehensive explanation of contemporary crises in the Persian Gulf within the context of mounting political, cultural and historical factors that are accelerating these conflicts.
The session is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 10, at 6:30 p.m. in NDSU’s Minard Hall room 116. The event is free.
Barrett is a senior fellow with the Joint Special Operations University at U.S. Special Operations Command, an adviser and lecturer at Special Operations Central Command and an expert on intelligence, security and counterterrorism operations with the Middle East Institute in Washington, D.C. He is the author of “The Gulf and the Struggle for Hegemony: Arabs, Iranians and West in Conflict.”
He has served as a subject matter expert with the intelligence community as well with numerous U.S. and allied militaries. He is a former Foreign Service officer with an intelligence background as well as a former visiting professor at the Royal Saudi Arabiani War College in Riyadh.
His talk will be followed by a question and answer period.
