TrainND Northwest Well Control Program Revised for 2020

TrainND Northwest Well Control Program Revised for 2020

WILLISTON, N.D. –TrainND Northwest is pleased to announce that beginning Wednesday, January 15, 2020, its well control program will be provided by Vorenkamp Well Control Training (VWCT).

VWCT was chosen as the exclusive provider after a multi-month vetting process performed by TrainND Northwest. VWCT is an industry leader in the well control business with over 100 years combined experience providing well intervention training to oil and gas workers.

The International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) will remain the accrediting agency that provides certification to students who complete any well control classes.

“While our previous provider offered quality classes, they were limited by which IADC classes they could offer and when,” explained Kenley Nebeker, Regional Director of Technical Programs and Training at TrainND Northwest. “VWCT proved they are willing to offer classes at the consistency our students need as well as more IADC courses allowing our well control program to better comply with IADC’s vision for the WellSharp training program.”

In partnership with VWCT, TrainND Northwest will now offer the following IADC courses and associated training:

IADC Drilling WellSharp Levels 3 and 4 | Introductory Well Control, Drilling Surface/Subsea, and Drilling Workover (Surface/Subsea)

IADC WellSharp Well Servicing | Well Service Workover, Intervention for Oil and Gas Operator Reps, Coiled Tubing, and Wireline

Classes will run up to four times a month at costs comparable to previously. Students will also have more simulator time and all simulations will be specific to what students would see working in the Bakken.

TrainND Northwest offers a realistic training experience using a full-size drilling, production & workover simulator with advanced 3-dimensional graphics.

“VWCT focuses its simulations and teaching on a Bakken-specific style of well control that applies to the wells students will see here in the Bakken,” stated Nebeker. “Additionally, VWCT will provide more consistent classes with dates that are planned to meet the needs of drilling and workover rig shift changes. A student should no longer have trouble finding a class that meets his or her schedule.”

“Ultimately, our partnership with VWCT allows us to more consistently provide high quality well control training to our industry partners in an area of safety that is highly needed in our region,” emphasized Nebeker. “This training saves lives, money, and provides for more efficiency in production. Most importantly it helps people go home safe and whole at the end of their shifts!”

Interested individuals can now register for this program. Registration remains open until the Friday before the first day of class or until filled.

There are limited seats available due to the practical nature of the training and allowing each student sufficient time on the training simulators.
