NDSU Human Resources offers virtual tour of campus

NDSU Human Resources has unveiled an innovative virtual tour of the campus to help new employees get around.

Previously, NDSU had offered a bus tour of campus for new employees quarterly, but it was determined that a virtual tour would be more effective and more readily available to new personnel.

When an employee is hired, they will now be sent a link for the tour before they set foot on campus.

“As a new NDSU employee myself, early on I asked for directions from colleagues and got lost a lot,” said John Woolsey, director of Human Resources, noting the virtual tour is available 24-7. “The new virtual tour will help to alleviate those challenges before an employee even starts. Employees will find out where they need to go to get their Bison ID card and parking pass, how they can get five free passes to the Wellness Center, where the dining facilities are and many other resources by taking the virtual tour. I encourage all employees to take a virtual tour, and we value any feedback after doing so.”

The tour gives panoramic views of many of the main administrative and other focal buildings, both on the main campus and in downtown Fargo. It also shows the locations of NDSU Extension county offices and the North Dakota Forest Service.

“Our goal is to provide all new employees and faculty a positive and welcoming introduction and onboarding experience to the university by presenting visual views of many buildings on and off campus – as well as information on where they need to access important information as a new employee,” said Cindy Breyer, Human Resources recruitment specialist. “This can be used in multiple ways for anyone at NDSU, such as viewing meeting rooms in the Memorial Union with interactive hotspot areas to make reservations or find the bus stop with quick links to schedules. We invite you to check out the virtual tour and explore the stunning NDSU campus.”
