25 Feb UND Department of Mathematics announces middle and high school winners of Math Track Meet event
More than 200 students from area middle and high school participated in this year’s mathematics competition
The University of North Dakota played host to the annual “UND Math Track Meet” for middle and high school students on Monday, Feb. 17.
Traditionally held on Presidents’ Day, the Math Track Meet is a problem-solving competition that the UND Department of Mathematics in the College of Arts & Sciences has put together for about 30 years now. It serves as a means to engage area students and their teachers as well as to promote the study of mathematics.
This year, more than 200 students in grades 7-12 participated. Individual high scorers in each grade level and each category (7-8 grade, 9-10 grade and 11-12 grade), as well as top-performing teams in each category received awards.

Individual awards:
Grade 7:

General rules of the UND Math Track Meet:
The meet consists of four 15-minute individual competitions and two team events of 25 minutes.
Each area school can enter up to three teams in the meet to compete in the 7-8 grade, 9-10 grade or 11-12 grade categories. Each team consists of four students, two of whom must be in the lower of the two represented grade levels.
The winners of the awards for highest scoring individual in each grade category are not eligible for the individual awards in their particular grade level i.e., the highest scoring individual in the 7-8 category will not also win the award for highest scoring 8th (or 7th) grader.
