25 Feb UND to hold grand opening for Esports Nexus gaming lounge on Thursday, March 5
University of North Dakota students will be able to play a variety of featured esports game options at the Grand Opening of the Esports Nexus Gaming Lounge, 3-10 p.m. Thursday, March 5, at the UND Wellness Center.
The new lounge features 12 top-of-the-line gaming computers, with more than 15 titles to choose from, including League of Legends, Fortnite, Starcraft II, and NBA 2K.
Door prizes at the grand opening include blue light glasses for the first 100 attendees. Healthy gaming snacks will be available and a Super Smash Bros. tournament will also take place at the event, beginning at 5 p.m.
“We have heard our students loud and clear, that they wanted to more opportunities to participate in esports on campus. Over the past year, we have been working with student leaders to develop this space for give our students a home for gaming at UND,” said Christopher Suriano, director of wellness & health promotion. “We are pleased to have a place where student can connect, compete, and create community with other student gamers.”
