NDSU President Bresciani welcomes high school student

Zoe Bundy, a freshman at Davies High School in Fargo, spent March 4 getting an inside look at the life of NDSU President Dean L. Bresciani. Wanting to learn more about leadership, Bundy asked to job shadow him for the day.

“I’m delighted that Zoe thought of NDSU when choosing to explore various career opportunities. We’re pleased to welcome her to campus,” Bresciani said. “As Zoe discovered, NDSU’s many outstanding educational programs are uniquely able to help students along the path to successful careers, no matter what field is of interest to them. NDSU’s focus is on students, and we want to fully prepare them to meet the challenges of a changing world.”

Bundy joined Bresciani in a meeting with NDSU Admission staff, where Bresciani thanked the team for their efforts toward increasing enrollment. After, Bundy sat in on a Staff Senate meeting while Bresciani provided a university update, talked about the budget and answered questions.

“I came in wanting to learn about the skills it takes to be a leader, and I definitely saw that today,” Bundy said. “I really got to see how important communication and collaboration are to the success of the university, while being exposed to the different areas of higher education.”

Later, they attended a community announcement by the company Plug and Play about investing in local start-ups. Bundy was able to meet and network with local business leaders as well as state and local government leaders.

Bundy said the experience helped her see what leadership looks like day-to-day. It also reaffirmed her impression of NDSU as student-focused university.

“Talking to students at one of the meetings, it was amazing to hear how valued they feel at NDSU and how positive their relationships with staff and other students are,” Bundy said. “My impression of NDSU is even more positive than it was coming into today.”
