Interim dean named at NDSU

 

Benton Duncan, professor and chair of the NDSU mathematics department, has accepted an interim appointment as dean of the NDSU College of Graduate and Interdisciplinary Studies. Interim Provost Margaret Fitzgerald made the announcement June 29.

Duncan began his new duties July 1.

“Dr. Duncan is an experienced leader on campus and is committed to advancing graduate education at NDSU,” Fitzgerald said. “I look forward to his leadership in the College of Graduate and Interdisciplinary Studies.”

Duncan’s research involves operator algebras associated to directed graphs and dynamical systems. The American Mathematical Society’s MathSciNet lists 17 publications by Duncan.

Duncan earned his doctorate at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.
