Scholarship Funds Available for Post-Secondary Enrollment

BISMARCK, N.D. – A scholarship is now available for higher education students who have taken a qualifying dual-credit course from an NDUS institution while enrolled in a North Dakota high school. To qualify, students must meet the eligibility criteria, complete an application with the NDUS, and provide all supporting documentation.

Lisa Johnson, NDUS vice chancellor of academic and student affairs, said the scholarship provides a great financial incentive for college students who have already completed dual credit in high school.

“We are grateful for the support of the ND legislature to provide financial assistance to reward ND students who have taken dual credit educational opportunities during their high school career,” Johnson said. “Dual credit plays an important role in helping the state meet educational attainment goals and particularly helps those students who choose to pursue a college degree among their choices of college, career, or military preparation.”

The NDUS will award the Dual-Credit Tuition Scholarship throughout the academic year. Scholarship award amounts may be up to $750. The maximum payment will be no more than 50% of the cost of the dual-credit courses, and will be limited to the cost of tuition and fees for the semester, quarter or term the scholarship applies. This scholarship may be used for post-secondary enrollment at any ND state public, private, tribal or proprietary institution. Payments will generally be issued to the student’s institution the following semester, quarter, or term enrolled after application.

This fall, approximately 4,000 students were enrolled in a dual credit course, which can aid in the overall cost of attaining a higher education degree after high school, Johnson said.
