25 Jun NDUS Releases 2020 Affordability Report
The North Dakota University System has released its annual affordability report, which focuses on key factors tied to educational access and affordability in the state.
Among other findings, the report notes that 2019-20 tuition and mandatory fee rates at the research and four-year regional universities were lower than the regional peers. Additionally, room and board rates at all those universities was also significantly lower than regional peer averages. Scholarships, grants and waivers, including state-funded programs play a significant role in affordability for families, accounting for 36 percent of all aid awarded for NDUS students. Additionally, state-funded grants and scholarships have grown significantly in the past 10 years, a positive trend.
“These findings point toward positive outcomes on the State Board of Higher Education’s goal of providing affordable education to our students,” said NDUS Chancellor Mark Hagerott. “These positive metrics of affordability are a credit to the hard work of our faculty and staff for ensuring that higher education in the state remains accessible to all.”
In addition to looking at tuition, fees, room and board, the report also tracks estimated total student costs, summarizes financial aid, looks into federal funding sources, and more. The report can be downloaded here.
